"Thor: Ragnarok" will be hitting the theaters on Nov. 3, 2017. For the third installment of the adventures of the Prince of Asgard, Thor will be joined by the trickster Loki, Doctor Strange, and even the Hulk. The film's director just uploaded a new photo from the set on Instagram. Check out the rest of the details here.
Taika Waititi has directed film gems like "Hunt for the Wilderpeople", "What We Do in the Shadows", and "Boy". He was also part of the writing team for the hit Disney movie, "Moana". Waititi has a snappy sense of humor, which means that "Thor: Ragnarok" promises to be enjoyable and fun, more so than the previous "Thor" films.
"Thor: Ragnarok" set photo reveals a feast for Darryl, Thor's roommate
Comicbook reports that Waititi uploaded a picture of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) at a table surrounded by gourds. The photo was captioned with "Asgardians love pumpkins and Gourds". Accordingly, the "Gourd of Thunder" picture was taken by one Darryl Jacobsen.
Avid Marvel fans will remember that Darryl is Thor's roommate when the latter went to Australia. Apparently, the Thunder God was there to hang out with Midgardians while Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) duked it out in "Captain America: Civil War". Will the producers finally give the fans what they want and include Darry in "Thor: Ragnarok"?
New "Thor: Ragnarok" cast members
The third movie will include several new characters: Hela (Cate Blanchett), the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and Skurge (Karl Urban). Veteran actor Sam Neill will also join the cast, although his role has yet to be revealed.
In the post-credits of "Doctor Strange", Thor approached the Sorcerer Supreme for help. Benedict Cumberbatch, who stars as the titular character, reluctantly agreed so long as Thor and Loki will return to Asgard after finding Odin. MovieWeb reports that Doctor Strange's temporal powers could be particularly helpful in solving Asgard's problem.
Loki, Thor and Doctor Strange team up to find Odin
Fans will remember that "Thor: The Dark World" ended with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) taking over the throne, disguised as Odin. Doctor Strange has the Eye of Agamotto, the Time Stone. Tom Hiddleston said that this particular weapon under Strange's protection has something to do with locating Odin.
This could also mean a bigger team-up with Thor, who is trying to keep the Infinity Stones out of Thanos' reach. "Thor: Ragnarok" synopsis reveals that Thor will be stranded on a strange planet where he will have to fight the Hulk in a gladiator-like battle. If he fails, Thor will be unable to stop Ragnarok, which will be heralded by Hela.
