Billboard top 100 chart, which was created back in 1958, essentially singles out all the pre-eminent singles chart in the US. It particularly monitors the most popular singles in terms of how popular they have been on radio play, single purchases as well as online streaming and thus, it is an honor for any of the recently launched songs to be mentioned in this list.
Billboard recently published this time's Hot 100 list and the results are quite surprising, in a good way. This time, Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles" that feature Gucci Mane along with another extremely popular track, Migos' "Bad and Boujee" that features Lil Uzi Vert have managed to top the Billboard top Hot 100 list. The result is compiled keeping the last three months in mind. This sure is a good sign as it reflects the acceptance of rap, rising stars and other such similar aspects in the mainstream market. It also signals a new, rising trend so the artists better keep this mind.
Forbes published a report on 27 January that suggested that over the next six decades, similar entries by major artists including Neil Sedaka, Taylor Swift, and Destiny's Child among others will be making the list. The report further reads that this achievement is a career milestone for Migos. The success of the Bad and Boujee track has made the artist and his album, Culture is among the most popular rap albums of the year.
In addition to this, Culture is also believed to be among the first rap albums that have been at an advantage due to Billboard's decision to include streaming songs and track downloads in their genre album chart methodology. Let's wait and watch how many other records Migos' Culture album manages to break in the coming years. The best part is 2017 is just getting started. Stay tuned for more updates.
