Nicki Minaj outpaced Taylor Swift becoming the number two female singer with the most number of songs to be ranked in the Billboard Hot 100. As of last tally, Minaj is now behind the top ranked singer Aretha Franklin, who retains the record as the female artist with the most number of song entries to the Hot 100 charts.
Major Lazer's "Run Up," where Nicki Minaj is featured, will be on the 66th spot of Billboard Hot 100 when it debuts this February 18, Billboard reported. With the song's entry into the rankings, Minaj now has a total of 71 songs included in the list.
Thanks to "Run Up," Nicki Minaj cemented her position as the second female artist with the most number of songs in the Billboard Hot 100. At 71 entries, Minaj broke her previous tie with Taylor Swift, who still has 70 entries into the list.
At the moment, both artists still trail behind Aretha Franklin who still occupies the number one spot as the female artist with the most numbers of song entries into the Billboard Hot 100. The Queen of Soul has 73 songs that made it to the list.
Aretha Franklin's number one position is especially noteworthy since she is the lead artist in all 73 of her entries. On the other hand, Nicki Minaj is only the lead artist for 27 songs of her 71 entries because collaboration is the norm in the hip hop genre. Taylor Swift, who is ranked third in the list, is the lead artist in 67 of her 70 songs that made it to the Billboard Hot 100 list.
However, both Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift may soon overtake Aretha Franklin's record of 73 entries. The Queen of Soul has already announced her plans of retiring this year after a career that spans more than 50 years, The Guardian reported.
The 74-year-old Aretha Franklin explained that she plans to spend more time with grandchildren who are about to go to college. However, she likewise revealed that she will be doing one last album with Stevie Wonder, which is scheduled for release by September this year, before her retirement.
Following Aretha Franklin, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swist are Madonna and Rihanna. Both singers have 57 songs that included in the Billboard Hot 100 list.
