Ben Affleck was poised to write, direct, and act in "The Batman", the DCEU solo Batman movie slated to hit the theaters in 2018. After Affleck decided to step down as the film's director so that he could focus on his acting, there has been reports that he wants out as the titular vigilante. This has sparked fan fears since Affleck as the Batman was considered the major highlight of the past DC film, "Batman v Superman".
John Campea, director, vlogger, and podcast host revealed that there has been talks going on in Warner Bros. about Ben Affleck leaving the film and the franchise altogether. In a talk show with Collider's movie enthusiasts, he said the actor was renegotiating his contract so that he could leave. Affleck stepped down as director so that he could focus on his performance.
Clashing reports claim that after he left the director's chair, his script was re-written, but it didn't make the actor happy. Allegedly, Ben Affleck is not satisfied with the direction the movie is heading, which might end up like "Batman v Superman" and "Suicide Squad".
"Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he wants out. He doesn't want to be Batman anymore," Campea continued to say. The director clarified, though, that this wasn't confirmed, according to Screen Rant. Affleck was highly praised for his Batman role and stepping away from the franchise now would seriously damage the DCEU.

Batman is perhaps DC's most popular superhero. Recasting him will bring about new rumors and dissention among the fans and maybe even the cast. Accordingly, if Ben Affleck will step down as the Dark Knight, "The Batman" will be his last film before the second "Justice League" movie.
Meanwhile, Matt Reeves ("Dawn of the Planet of the Apes") is slated to take over the project, reports Movie Web. Chris Terrio was brought in to rewrite the script and previous reports revealed that Ben Affleck was actually happy with the script. The "Gone Girl" actor had been very vocal about not pushing through with "The Batman" film if he wasn't happy with the script or production.
"The Batman" was supposed to be released in 2017, but with the current turmoil the production is experiencing, it's opting for a 2018 release date. Fans are hoping to see Ben Affleck reprise his role as Batman, amid the rumors of Armie Hammer being brought in to play the character. There has been no confirmation on that one, so fans can still breathe easily.
There have been many movies that had production problems but pushed through to create a commercially successful film like "Mad Max: Fury Road", "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", "Titanic", and "World War Z" among others. DC fans who loved Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight hope he will stay on to complete the franchise's films.
