'X-Men' Sequel To Use Dark Phoenix Saga Story; X-Men Team To Go Against Intergalactic Forces

There's a new "X-Men" sequel coming, but the studio has yet to reveal the title. Recent reports claim that the film will bear the title "Supernova" and that it will be about the Dark Phoenix Saga. Although FOX hasn't revealed anything yet, the Dark Phoenix story could take the X-Men team to other galaxies for some major battles.

If the "X-Men" sequel is titled "Supernova", then it would seem that the X-Men team will be doing some cosmic battle, which will be the perfect setting for the Dark Phoenix saga. Sophie Turner, who plays Jean Grey in the "X-Men" films, was at the 2017 British Academy Film Awards, where she gave a hint about the new film.

Hey U Guys talked to her about her projects and she gave a small teaser about "X-Men" and "Game of Thrones". She said that she had just finished production of "Game of Thrones" Season 7 and was set to do some other movies before the "X-Men" sequel production will start. After that, she will be filming "Game of Thrones" Season 8.

While the story is not yet confirmed, "Supernova" would tie in to the "X-Men: Apocalypse" scene where Jean Grey tapped into her Phoenix powers. Movieweb reports that the "New Mutants" film could include Maisie Williams (who plays Aria, sister of Sophie Turner's Sansa Stark in "Game of Thrones") as Wolfsbane, together with Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik. The "X-Men" sequel cast, however, has not been officially announced.

What's sure is that James McAvoy will come back as Prof. X, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, and Alexandra Shipp as Storm. It's not sure whether Jennifer Lawrence will return as Mystique in the "X-Men" sequel, but it won't make sense if she doesn't either. In the last "X-Men" movie, she was practically the head trainer of the new X-Men, which was quite a departure from her comicbook character's scheming ways.

Last year, Bryan Singer had told the press that the next "X-Men" films will explore some intergalactic worlds. The timeline in the "X-Men" sequel will be in the 90s if it follows the course of the previous "X-Men" movies. The director has always wanted to do the Dark Phoenix saga, so it won't be surprising that the next film will use that storyline.
