Marshal Mathers, more commonly known as Eminem, will be joining Kasabian and Muse as they headline this year's 'Reading and Leeds Festival'. As this will be the third time "Slim Shady" will be gracing the stage of the three-day event held at Reading and Leeds in England, there could be another reason for fans to check the event out.
Announced via social media site Twitter, Eminem's inclusion on the event was referred to by Melvin Benn, the festival's runner, as beyond exciting and looks stronger than ever. For fans of the rapper, though, this could be the platform for Eminem to release some new tracks from his upcoming studio album. According to Billboard, though, it is still unknown at the moment if this would happen.
Eminem last headlined the event in 2013, and was joined by Green Day and Biffy Clyro. Back in 2001, Eminem headlined the event for the first time with Travis and Manic Street Preachers.
BBC also reported that the event was criticized for not having that much females on their lineups, with only one at that time. Currently, the festival has added an 15 more acts that has at least one female in the group.
The event, which has been going on since 1961, typically takes place in the cities of Reading and Leeds, usually sharing the same bill. With the Reading Festival tagged as the oldest popular music festival, it has catered to many talents both in the U.K. and from other countries.
The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who and Radiohead are some of the popular acts from the U.K. that played on their stages. On the other hand, some of the foreign acts it had include Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the aforementioned Eminem.
'Reading and Leeds Festival' 2017 will be held at August 25-27, with Eminem performing at Reading on Aug 26 and at Leeds on August 27.
