After the sixth season of the fantasy drama series, "Once Upon a Time" Season 7 will get a reboot, but it will not bring back all the fairytale characters. The next season will focus on Emma (Jennifer Morrison), Regina (Lana Parrilla), Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle), and Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), but Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas might) not be coming back after Season 6.
The ABC fantasy drama that has introduced several Disney characters will wrap up its sixth season this spring. The creators, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, revealed that they will be rebooting the show in "Once Upon a Time" Season 7, which will focus more on Emma, Regina, Mr. Gold, and Hook. Other characters will be shown throughout the later episodes, but they will no longer be major players in the upcoming season.
ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey told Deadline that there will be closure for some of the characters in Season 6. Goodwin and Dallas who play Snow White and Prince Charming respectively might not renew their contracts, however. The two got married to each other and had children while doing the show, so they might focus on their family first. There's also no news whether Emma's son, Henry (Jared S. Gilmore), will be part of the "Once Upon a Time" Season 7 cast.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the next season will help the series explore other stories that weren't fully given time in the previous seasons. Jennifer Morrison, who plays the main character, Emma, said that she was ready for "Once Upon a Time" Season 7. "I have a really fierce loyalty to the show. I don't have any interest in abandoning something that is such a special part of my life," she told the press.
Meanwhile, Season 6 has added "The Walking Dead" actor Andrew J. West and "Jane the Virgin" actress Alison Fernandez as part of the show. The producers have not revealed the roles they will play, but they will be part of the last few episodes and might have appearances in the "Once Upon a Time" Season 7 reboot. Season 6 currently airs every Sunday at 8 PM on ABC.
