DJI is the brand synonymous with drones and other photography equipment. The company has reputation for making professional drones that cater the needs of photographers and enthusiasts. DJI Mavic Pro is the flagship drone from the manufacturer currently and it seems a 'standard' version might be on its way.
DJI Mavic Pro is the ultimate drone built for professional use featuring top-of-the-line hardware and software features. Mavic Pro has released 5 months ago and is the first drone to feature gesture control and is considerably portable than rest of the drones from DJI. Mavic Standard is said to be built on the same chassis.
As per the reports, DJ Mavic Pro uses a model name called 'M1P' and this translates to 'Mavic 1 Pro'. However, a listing on the FCC website reveals a new illustration and the model number mentioned on the illustration reads 'M1S'. This could be the short form for 'Mavic 1 Standard' revealing that the new drone might be announced soon, Droningon reported.
The information might be true as DJI announced Phantom 3 Standard six months after the release of Phantom 3 Professional and Advanced. Since its almost six months of the Mavic Pro release, the Mavic Standard might be a real thing and could be announced soon. Mavic Standard will target the lower-end segment of the market, reported MavicGuide.
DJI Phantom Standard will be a stripped down version of the Mavic Pro and speculations include - a 1080p video or 2.7K camera on a 3-axis gimbal for stabilization, a 12MP resolution for still image, Active track and Terrain Follow Mode, IMU and Compass Redundancy, No obstacle avoidance sensors and Ocu Sync video transmission. Therefore, the new drone will be able to fly as far as 7kms.
The expected price of Mavic Standard is $699 including the remote and $499 without it. Thus, the drone will be able to cater more customers because of the lower price point. However, the professional users will still use the Mavic Pro for its outstanding features.
