Fans are eagerly waiting for the next generation iPhone - iPhone 8. Since it is the tenth anniversary of the Apple iPhone, a revolutionary device with outstanding features is expected from Apple.
The speculated features of Apple iPhone 8 have been leaked several times, however, the new reports are suggesting that Apple iPhone 8 will have a new 3D camera. The new camera will allow 3D facial recognition and will support augmented reality applications. The Apple iPhone 8's 3D could reinvent the user experience, BGR reported.
According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple iPhone 8 will have an infrared sensor that will be able to sense 3D space in front of it. This combination of front camera and 3D sensor would allow iPhone users to have a 3D selfie and create digital avatars or characters of themselves for an ultimate augmented reality experience.
This new augmented reality feature in Apple iPhone 8 will let it compete with Google's project Tango which aims to bring augmented reality feature in the smartphones. Lenovo Phab2 Pro is the only device currently available with Google Tango, Slash Gear reported.
According to the reports, the 3D camera system in Apple iPhone 8 will be developed by PrimeSense algorithms that got acquired by Apple in 2013. Reports also suggest that Apple might omit the fingerprint sensor and the home button. These will be replaced by a 3D scanner that would carry out biometric face scanning to unlock the device.
The Apple iPhone 8 will come with an OLED screen and this is the first time Apple is moving away from LCD screens. The phone is expected to feature a large 5.8-inch display with OLED technology and a bezel-less design.
There are speculations that iPhone 8 will have a virtual functional area, wireless charging, facial recognition technology and water resistance. The new iPhone 8 is expected to cost upwards of $1000.
