If there is one good thing about One Direction being on indefinite hiatus, is that its members get the chance to shine musically, individually. And one member who is definitely taking his band's hiatus in good stride is Harry Styles, as he will reportedly drop his first single in spring, which he has been recording in Jamaica.
Harry Styles will not the first 1D member to test the solo musician waters. Niall Horan was way ahead of him and the other guys, though. The Irishman bested his buddies by releasing an entire album in 2016. But the singer-turned-actor is not to be left behind. In fact, Columbia Records CEO Rob Stringer intimated that the 23-year-old Englishman will soon be releasing his own music. Teen Vogue thought it was still far away, but apparently the first single out of Jamaica is dropping this spring.
That's right. Fans of Harry Styles and of One Direction, in general, will hear brand new music from their pop idols. But it will be different from what they have heard so far. Because according to the teen magazine, the Worcestershire native will be singing to melodies reminiscent of '70s English rock. So he is pretty busy recording his first studio album with his own unique sound while getting some sun in Jamaica to boot.
Metro said that after filming for war drama "Dunkirk," Harry Styles went off the grid. But it turned out that the One Direction singer has been busy churning out tunes and recording them in Jamaica. The information comes from BBC Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw, who is pals with the "Story of My Life" hitmaker.
The DJ joked that since Harry Styles is recording his music in Jamaica, the home of reggae, then the singer's songs would be in tune with that style too. But as mentioned above, that would not be the sound Styles will be cranking out. Alas, fans will not have to wait long for the stylish man's surprising new sound.
