Caitriona Balfe & Sam Heughan Tired of Romance Rumors; Deny Latest Quitting 'Outlander' Talk

It will take very little convincing to believe that “Outlander” stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are together in real life. After all, it is their palpable chemistry onscreen that made their Starz series such a hit. The two actors, however, are the first to deny dating and has in fact been a little exhausted by the constant rumors on their personal lives.

The latest rumor that the two have to deal with is that Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire Fraser, almost quit filming the latest installment of “Outlander” because of a broken heart. Reportedly, she and Sam Heughan, Jamie Fraser in the series, broke up after pictures of him with “The Bold and the Beautiful” actress Mackenzie Mauzy surfaced. This was when they attended the Oscars weekend party together reported by Just Jared. Many fans were outraged that being with Mauzy meant he was cheating on Balfe.

Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan were quick to debunk the cheating allegations as there is no romantic relationship between them to begin with. In a previous People article, Balfe reminded the fans that what they do in “Outlander” is fantasy and they are just doing their jobs. It is different in their private lives. She did say that they are best friends specially since Sam is one of the most generous persons one will ever meet.

Meanwhile, Sam Heughan feels badly that some of their fans get disappointed to know he is not in a romantic relationship with Caitriona Balfe. But, it just means that they are doing a good job in “Outlander.” He said he also found it amusing that people have to follow their personal and professional lives at the same time.

In reality, Caitriona Balfe is in a relationship with Tony McGill, a pub owner. Sam Heughan has not made his relationship with Mauzy official but may have as well confirmed it by attending social events together. There are also those social media posts wherein one showed them together in South Africa where “Outlander” is being filmed.
