It seems like nothing can bring down Selena Gomez in the recent times since both her personal life and career are shooting for the stars. On one hand, her new found love with The Weeknd got the seal of approval from his parents when she visited his hometown in Toronto. On the other hand, Selena Gomez has re-launched her career as an executive producer for the Netflix series, "13 Reasons Why."
While most of the reports about Selena Gomez's Canada visit were surrounding the immense display of PDA with her beau, some of the latest sources claim that there was another motive behind The Weeknd's willingness to invite her to his hometown. He wanted to show off his girlfriend to his family, to get their approval.
"He was thrilled for Selena [Gomez] to meet his family," stated an inside source, Eye Witness News reports. "They instantly took to Selena and they like her very much. They thought she was surprisingly down-to-earth and very friendly."
One of the reasons behind The Weeknd's family reacting this way could be due to the fact that Selena Gomez is different from the girls that The Weeknd is used to dating in the past. His previous girlfriend, for an instance, was Bella Hadid, a Victoria Secrets model.
Meanwhile, Selena Gomez might have taken a short break from making music but she is not planning to step away from her career anytime soon. She proved that when she showed up on the red carpet in LA for the premiere of the newly released Netflix series, "13 Reasons Why."
"13 Reasons Why" is a teen drama where a high school student recounts the story of her suicide through an array of audio tapes. Selena Gomez is the executive producer of the series, a project that she has been working for over 7 years, CNN reports.
Selena Gomez admitted during the premiere of the series that she got to learn a lot about her role as a producer after she took up the project. She further added that even though she did not act a "boss" on the sets, she would often become a little too "defensive" during the making of the show.
