OnePlus is one of the most competitive brands in the market today because of their quality and promising smartphone. However, the brand is not good with communication because up to now, the company is mum when it comes to the Nougat update for their OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X clients.
OnePlus promised that OP2 and OPX users will receive a Nougat update at some point. Unfortunately, the users are already getting impatient because up until today there is no update available for the old clients, Android Police reported. One should note that it's been already four months since OnePlus 3 and OnePlus T users received their updates.
OnePlus developed good quality and competitive smartphones. Unfortunately, the company struggles in keeping their old customers happy and satisfied.
OnePlus 2 was launched with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop in 2015. It was later updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in mid-2016. The users reportedly received an update a few weeks ago in the form of OxygenOS 3.5.8, which is just based on the Android Marshmallow, although it contains security patches up to March 2017
Similarly, OnePlus X was also launched in 2015 with Android 5.1.1. and was also updated to Android 6.0 last year. However, its last update, OxygenOS 3.1.4 happened in November 2016, XDA reported.
In this Reddit thread, OnePlus users are divided with the delay of the Nougat update among OP 2 and OP X clients. "Good.. They deserve all the bad press for this," a OnePlus 2 owner commented.
However, some also understand the challenges that OnePlus is facing today. Unfortunately, most of them own the updated OP model, so they did not experience the trouble of the old clients.
"I don't mean to be Johhny Raincloud, but how much can we expect from OnePlus? They sell competitive hardware at almost half the cost of what Samsung and LG offer. Thus, they have less money to acquire an expensive line of software engineers to throw at all their old devices," Herrow Pries, a OnePlus 3 owner wrote.
