'Scandal' Season 6: Portia De Rossi Gets Brutal Exit; Ellen DeGeneres Praises Wife on Twitter

“Scandal” Season 6 stunned its fans with the death of Elizabeth North (Portia de Rossi) in last Thursday’s episode. The scene was so unexpected and horrific that DeRossi’s wife Ellen DeGeneres and the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes have expressed their sentiments regarding the scene.

To recap the “Scandal” Scandal 6 episode, Olivia (Kerry Washington) and company were able to to free Cyrus (Jeff Perry) from prison in order to become the next President of the U.S. Mellie (Bellamy Young) was all set to concede but Lizzie will not let her reports People.

Mellie firmly declined the help of the organization and that made Mysterious Woman (Zoe Perry) to brutally beat Lizzie to death with a golf club as a warning. Her blood even spurted out to the face of Mellie. The killer then succeeded Lizzie as Mellie’s new Chief of Staff. That effectively ends Lizzie's story arc in "Scandal" Season 6. De Rossi had 54-episode run in the show spanning from 2014 to 17.

Following the “Scandal” Season 6 episode’s airing, DeGeneres shared her reaction to her wife’s onscreen death on Twitter. She posted that she was proud of her wife’s epic performance in the episode. But, while she will miss Lizzie, she is glad that her Portia Bear was sitting right next to her.

Meanwhile, Shonda Rhimes said that she wanted to keep Elizabeth North in the show but jokingly said that kidnapping is illegal. It is now being revealed that it was actually de Rossi who decided to leave “Scandal" Season 6. She told Entertainment Weekly, “Toward the end of last year, I started an [art curation and publishing] business and I realized that the business was going to be very time-consuming if I was going to make a success of it.”

As to the next episode of “Scandal" Season 6, Peus (David Warshofsky) and Ruland are now ready to take over the White House. Now that Mellie is at the helm, they feel that is will only be a matter of time until they take down Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and his followers. Olivia is their main target and they are even threatening everyone that she loves. But, she has Fritz to assure her that everything is going to be all right.
