‘The Flash’ Season 3 Spoilers: Iris, Savitar Share Touching Scene, Captain Cold Returns

The CW has released a sneak peek at the upcoming events in the last three episodes of "The Flash" Season 3. One of the scenes show Iris West lovingly caress Savitar's cheek and in another, Captain Cold gives Barry Allen some advice on how to defeat Savitar.

 "The Flash" Season 3 sizzle reel focuses on the team's discovery that Savitar is future Barry Allen (Grant Gustin). The villain unmasks himself to Team Flash, which of course, surprises Iris and his father Joe. However, instead of fear Iris (Candice Patton) shows pity towards the God of Speed.

The video shows Iris and Savitar share a touching moment, where Iris slowly caresses Savitar's scarred face and he closes his eyes in response. It is unclear when this scene happens in "The Flash" Season 3, but it hints that Iris somehow understands the villain's pain. In a separate scene, Barry tells Iris that Savitar exists because of the pain he feels.

Likewise, Iris' father Joe (Jesse Martin) recognizes the pain in the villain's eyes. He tells Barry that he sees a wounded soul in Savitar's eyes. Joe tells Barry in "The Flash" Season 3 sizzle reel that he saw the same pain from his eyes the night his mother died.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg says that there will be "horror and sadness" when Team Flash sees Savitar. "His visage is obviously very upsetting - seeing the scar and the milky white eye, but also seeing the person that you love be so twisted. Barry Allen, who probably has the gentlest soul of all of the characters in the Arrowverse, to just see how far he could fall, he's both terrifying, but it's also heartbreaking," Kreisberg tells Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, the sizzle reel also shows the return of Captain Cold. He appears in "The Flash" Season 3 Episode 22 to help Barry defeat Savitar. According to the synopsis from Flickering Myth, Barry approaches Leonard Snart after he realizes that he is his last option to rescue Iris from Savitar.
