"NCIS" Season 15 may see Michael Weatherly reprise Tony DiNozzo. Sean Murray hinted at the actor's return and also talked about the possibility of a change in the team in the installment.
Murray talked about a change in the team in "NCIS" Season 15. He said this is possible following the events in the Season 14 Finale. "On our show, that's a real possibility sometimes," he told TV Line. Fans speculate that Mark Harmon (Leroy Gibbs) might exit the show due to his rumored declining health. Meanwhile, others believe the series will have new characters as members of the NCIS.
In a separate interview, Murray (Timothy McGee) addressed rumors that Weatherly might one day reprise his role as Tony DiNozzo. Speaking to Fox News, the actor said that this is possible, but he admitted that he is uncertain whether this happens in Season 14 or in "NCIS" Season 15. He speculated that DiNozzo could be the best man at McGee's wedding to Delilah Fielding (Margo Harshman).
It has long been rumored that Tony DiNozzo could appear at McGee's wedding, given that he and the latter are close friends. However, he did not show up during the ceremony, which happened in the Season 14 finale. Instead, according to Entertainment Weekly, Abby was McGee's best man.
Still, the finale alluded to DiNozzo since the quick wedding took place at his old apartment. Likewise, there could still be a chance that Weatherly cameos as Tony DiNozzo in "NCIS" Season 15, during the wedding after-party. Delilah had assured everyone in the season 14 finale, that they will have a party for their other friends and family later on. This would be the perfect time for DiNozzo to appear to congratulate his friend.
Regardless, it is unclear whether Weatherly will cameo in "NCIS" Season 15 given his commitment to another show. The actor currently leads a new series titled "Bull," which films in New York while "NCIS" films in Los Angeles.
