CBS has yet to confirm the release of "Limitless" Season 2, but executive producer Craig Sweeney already has ideas in mind for a storyline for Brian. The showrunner also expressed his interest in seeing a renewal happen in the series.
It has been a year now since Season 1 wrapped up in April, yet CBS has not given any word on the show's renewal. According to Blasting News, the showrunners have not given up on the show's renewal. They have reportedly pitched "Limitless" Season 2 to other networks including Amazon and Fox. Previous reports revealed Bradley Cooper also tried to pitch the show to Netflix, Showtime, and NBC, but so far these networks have not responded.
Regardless, if a potential "Limitless" Season 2 does happen then Sweeney already has a clear idea on what to show the fans in terms of Brian's storyline. The showrunner said that "Limitless" Season 2 will still tell a complete story of what happened in Season 1. There will be changes to the story though Brian will still be at the center of it.
Essentially, the idea for "Limitless" Season 2 still involves Brian still continuing to take NZT and working alongside Boyle and Rebecca and some new members of the team. However, Sweeney hinted that Brian's time at the FBI is over, now that they know he is not special.
Likewise, Sweeney said that "Limitless" Season 2 will continue to show Brian solving crimes on a week-to-week basis. "So despite the current state of things at the end of "Finale: Part One!" at the end of the season, we are in a different place, but not as radically different as it feels like what we're in right now," the executive producer told IGN.
This seems a very interesting story that could further explore Brian's story, especially now that the FBI knows about his non-immunity. However, whether fans will see this come to play in "Limitless" Season 2 remains unknown. CBS has remained mum about the renewal although Sweeney is hopeful to see an installment.
