Tom Ellis says that the "Lucifer" Season 2 Finale will leave viewers in shock. The synopsis alone hints that Episode 18, titled "The Good, The Bad, and the Crispy," ends with a surprising cliffhanger that opens up Season 3.
Ellis recently sat down for a quick interview about the "Lucifer" Season 2 Finale during the Build Series section of Huffington Post. The actor, who plays the titular character, dished some spoilers for Episode 18, specifically on the focus of the season-ender.
Ellis said that the "Lucifer" Season 2 Finale culminates Charlotte's plan to get back to the Silver City with her sons. "Our final two episodes of this season, it's all about mom's plan to get back to Heaven and taking her sons with her and how that kind of unravels," he said. Likewise, Ellis revealed that in Episode 18 "Lucifer is in for a bit of a shock."
Of course, he did not reveal any more details about what happens in the "Lucifer" Season 2 Finale. However, it also goes to say that viewers will be in for a shock too with the ending. Perhaps, whatever happens in Episode 18 is akin to the Season 1 Finale, which introduced the arrival of Lucifer's mom Charlotte. Only this time, Charlotte finally leaves Earth and returns to either Hell or Heaven. Worse, she dies before she can leave Earth.
The synopsis for Episode 18 from Cartermatt teased that Charlotte does not have long to survive on Earth. It states that Lucifer "must find a permanent solution for the ticking-time-bomb he calls Mom." The "Lucifer" Season 2 Finale might see Charlotte die before she can leave Earth and return to Heaven.
Likewise, the promo for the "Lucifer" Season 2 Finale teased this scenario. The preview for Episode 18 teased that she might not be able to return home. Amenadiel refuses to give her the final piece of Azarael's blade, which is her only ticket to get to Heaven.
