SNL Cast Crisis [VIDEOS]: 'Saturday Night Live' Faces Troubling 39th Season in 2013 & 2014? NBC's New Generation

This Saturday marked the last episode of Saturday Night Live for cast member Bill Hader. Also, Seth Meyers is set to leave the popular sketch comedy show in 2014 for his new gig as host of "Late Night" and SNL cast members Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis are rumored to be eying an exit as well (yet to be confirmed). With so many comedians leaving the show, we are apparently on the verge of a cast crisis for the 2013 - 2014 season of Saturday Night Live. But do you really believe this?

As we saw over the weekend, SNL said good-bye to Hader's character "Stefon" with a huge send-off sketch ending with Bill and Meyers waving to the audience (see video below). And then the show's final sketch featured Hader, Armisen and Sudeikis performing a song together, in character, which seemed to be another send-off as well. If so, it was nice and very well done (also, see video below). So as these pretty obvious farewell sketches ending the season 38 finale, one has to wonder what is in store for the rest of the cast who are staying one.

With these four (supposedly) departing, that leaves Keenan Thompson as the seasoned cast member with over a decade of "SNL" experience under his belt. But maybe even Keenan will leave. If he sticks around, reports claim that he will replace Seth Meyers on as host of the "Weekend Update" segment. But again, is this bad news?

It would be better to not consider this a cast crisis, but more like a trial for the rest of the cast to take control and start a new generation of Saturday Night Live. Looking back at the show, you can pick out specific generations by the comedians on the show and this upcoming one will be no exception.

The younger actors like Taran Killam, Kate McKinnon, Cecilly Strong, and Aidy Bryant have been proving themselves each week this season and it definitely leaves hope for the future of "SNL."
