J. Cole is doing everything right to draw attention to his sophomore album Born Sinner. A few days after announcing that he would push his album release date up to June 18th, to compete with Grammy Award winning rapper Kanye West. J. Cole hit the stage on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform his hit "Power Trip" with a little help from the iconic house band The Roots.

J.Cole's bass and drum infused track was already perfect, and with The Roots added to the mix, it makes you want J.Cole to make and entire live "Unplugged" style album. While J.Cole is a producer and a rapper what makes him stand out is his ability to hold his own in both categories similar to that of other producers/rappers such as Kanye West, Pharell, Juicy J or Big K.R.I.T. So it comes as no surprise that the North Carolina native is ready to compete with one of hip-hop's elite.

Cole tweeted to fans Monday:

J.Cole and The Roots perform "Power Trip" live on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon:

With Born Sinner's release less than a month away fans will have more chances to catch J.Cole perform live May 28 with Hip-hop journalist Elliot Wilson at The Highline Ballroom in New York City and on Sunday, June 2 at Hot 97's Summer Jam XX.  J.Cole's told MTV News last year that he would focus on better marketing tactics with his second album, and thus far he has kept his word. He dropped two "Born Sinner" documentaries along with a few new tracks earlier in May, and on Monday he released two Born Sinner album covers. Who do you think will win the battle between J.Cole and Yezzy on June 18th?
