Classic rock band U2 has been quite busy in New York City in the past few days and the activity has fueled the rumors regarding the band's new album.
According to an article on Rolling Stone's website, all four members of the band (Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.) were at Electric Lady Studios at 52 W. 8th St. in New York City on Friday night. Danger Mouse was there finishing mixing the yet-to-be-titled album, which is reportedly due for a fall release.
In addition, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin was seen at the studio but it is unknown if he has any sort of role on the album or if he was just there in an unofficial capacity.
U2 also went onto the roof of Electric Lady Studios late Friday to record an acoustic version of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" for an art project called Inside Out, which "gives everyone the opportunity to share their portrait and make a statement for what they stand for," according to the project's official website.
The band began working on the new album prior to the end of its world tour from 2009 to 2011. U2 initially wanted to release a second set of songs from the No Line on the Horizon sessions (the album the band released in 2009), but seemingly changed their minds and decided to craft a whole new album instead. They worked for a short time with Lady Gaga's producer, RedOne, but partnered with Danger Mouse shortly thereafter.
