No Bono? No worries. It was up to a couple of star fill-ins — Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay's Chris Martin — to front U2 for the World AIDS Day concert in Times Square last night, Dec. 3, since Bono was unable to perform due to a pretty serious bike accident in Central Park two weeks ago. They were joined for the concert by hip-hop superstar Kanye West and the "reigning queen of country" Carrie Underwood for a show you can stream right here. West dropped "Jesus Walks," "Black Skinhead" and "Stronger," closing with "Touch the Sky," while Martin filled in for Bono, fronting U2's "Beautiful Day" and "With or Without You" before Bruce came out and dominated "Where the Streets Have No Name" and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." Bono, the singer of the iconic Irish rock n' roll band U2, just received France's highest cultural honor this week. The 53-year-old musician is now a Commander of Arts and Letters in France, in honor of his in recognition of his contributions to the world of music and the arts as well as his involvement with charity. Bono and his ONE Campaign have created a new project entitled "agit8." This is a collection of songs performed by well-established and up-and-coming musical acts all in one collection in the hopes to enlighten some key people at the upcoming G8 summit about world poverty. The artists chose these songs as their favorite protests songs. Advertised as "songs that changed the world," these new takes on the tunes really highlight the change that the original versions enacted.
