Last night on Comedy Central's hour-long special of "The Colbert Report," music legend Paul McCartney joined host Stephen Colbert for interviews and performances. The former Beatle performed a number of hits including "Birthday," "Lady Madonna" and "Listen to What the Man Said." This special opened with a funny segment entitled "Stephen Colbert's Tribute to Having Paul McCartney on His Show, Featuring Paul McCartney, With Special Guest Stephen Colbert." Clearly this was a sign for a highly enjoyable episode of the "Colbert Report."
Here is a clip of the opening segment:
In the interview portion of this special episode, Sir Paul McCartney spoke about the Beatles' artistic evolution, the band splitting up in 1970, starting over with Wings, why he recorded Band on the Run in Lagos, Nigeria, (the legendary singer joke that they did it "for the climate and the disease") and even taught Stephen how to properly pronounce the word "schedule."

McCartney then performed "I've Just Seen a Face," followed after a break by "Hi, Hi, Hi" and "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kitel." Later on in the special, he performed "Listen to What the Man Said," then "Lady Madonna."
Plus, as a web exclusive performance, Paul and his band performed "Birthday" and dedicated it to "anyone who has a birthday during the entire year."
