Those watching the Miami Heat-San Antonio Spurs game last night weren't just surprised by the Spurs' win. Viewers also got the unexpected news of a brand new Jay-Z album in 2013.

During an advertisement for Samsung, the legendary Brooklyn rapper announced the name and due date for his twelfth studio album. Magna Carta Holy Grail will be released in less than a month, on Thursday, July 4.

The three-minute, dully-colored ad shows Hova working on Magna Carta in the studio, alongside big-name producers like Pharrell Williams, Timbaland and Rick Rubin. Jay-Z and his crew are seen dancing along to an epic, piano-driven beat, which builds to an explosion of heavy proportions midway through the commercial.

Other tracks, including one with a more guitar-driven sound are previewed. Jay-Z is also heard freestyling some rhymes.

"That ain't supposed to work. Not against these live sounds and this lush instrumentation," he said.

Jay-Z is looking to "rewrite the rules" of hip-hop with Magna Carta Holy Grail, according to the advertisement. With the rapper's known legendary abilities and the previewed samples of songs during the advertisement, it seems as though he can do it.

The content of this album seems to be a little more personal for Hova, who has become a father and released the highly successful Watch the Throne with friend Kanye West since dropping his last solo album, The Blueprint 3, in 2009.

"Pretty much what the album is about is this duality of: how do you navigate through this whole thing? Through successes, through failures, through all this and remain yourself?" he explained.

Magna Carta Holy Grail will be available for sale on Independence Day. However, the album has already gone platinum. Samsung has purchased one million copies of the album, to be given to users of the Samsung Galaxy III, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note users.

Lucky Samsung customers will be able to get the album three days before its release date via a new mobile app, which will be released on June 24. The application will also include an "unprecedented look into the album, personal stories and inspiration," according to the record's website.
