Last week's episode of NBC's Hannibal, "Releves," was most likely the most stressful of the first season of the thrilling drama. With Will Graham's (Hugh Dancy) mounting psychological and neurological issues going unchecked, his state of mind is unraveling and Dr. Lecter is planting an insane amount of "seeds of doubt." Tonight in "Savoureux" we get to see how the whole first season wraps up and leads into the second season, but it almost looks like Will won't make it! (SPOILERS to follow)
"Releves" really kicks off with the brutal death of Georgia Madchen. She is being treated for her disease in an oxygen tube of sorts and a static shock from a plastic comb engulfs her in flames. The audience realizes that Hannibal is the one who did this, but everyone else thinks it was a suicide. Will starts putting things together (thanks to his special ability and a strange dream) but it does not go over well with his team.
His fever from the previous episode has subsided and he says that he is thinking clearer than ever, but literally nobody trusts him. Jack goes behind his back with the rest of the investigators to determine just how off Will is. All of the evidence does not bode well for Will.
Hannibal, who adamantly talks up his friendship with Will to everyone, is pretty much framing Will. The moment when Will talks about taking Abigail back to her father's lodge and Hannibal almost smirks was incredible. We all pretty much read his mind and figured out his plans to frame poor Will Graham.
Everything comes together for Hannibal's plan, but he still needs to take care of Abigail. The final scene of "Releves" is easily the greatest glimpse into Hannibal's madness as he apologizes to Abigail before presumably killing her.
So is Abigail Hobbs dead?
According to the following preview for tonight's episode "Savoureux," that might be the case.
