At this point in the delivery countdown, Kate Middleton is literally days away from delivering her first child with Prince William. An official due date has yet to be confirmed, but we are definitely coming into the last week of an early birth at least. So once the child is born, how long will it take to name him or her? Assuming the Duke and Duchess don't know the gender of their first child (as reports claim), once he or she is born, the naming process should be quite easy, correct?
Well, not exactly. The Royals are a bit strange when it comes to naming. For instance, when Wills was born, Princess Diana and Prince Charles named him after about a week. Plus, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II took a whole month to name Charles!
But maybe Kate will break tradition, as she has been known to do, and name the child right away! But first, we still want to find out if we'll be welcoming a new Prince or a new Princess into the world.
According to a recent report, the 31-year-old mother-to-be has at least one relative in Australia and her name is Lillian Lowers. The 72-year-old Australian pensioner has also shared her prediction in regards to Kate's child with the media.
"I think it is going to happen in the next few days, anywhere between two in the afternoon and just before 12 at night. It is going to be a girl. It will weigh under 5 pounds," Lillian predicted.
"I don't think (they will) pick a peculiar name. I've got a feeling they will call her Elizabeth," Lillian said, adding that one of her "granddaughter's second name is Elizabeth."
The Lowers family has never met Kate, but Kate's mother Carole Middleton and Lillian apparently sent each other Christmas cards years after Lillian immigrated to Australia in the 1970s. They plan on sending the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge a gift for the baby.
"We're going to send over a baby present," Lillian's daughter-in-law Tia said. "My mum has done some absolutely stunning sewing work. And we found a cot panel with beautiful, soft plush, kangaroo, emu and crocodile. Mum is just doing the finishing touches so we can pack that off and attention it to Buckingham Palace."
"We don't know the sex of the baby, of course, so we wanted something that had a bit of an Australian theme to it. We will send it off when we hear through the news. We love it. We love the idea (of having a connection with them)."
Lillian and her family discovered they were related to the Duchess after her son Mark Lowers started researching the family's history in 2008-2009. This search led to the conclusion that Lilian and Carole Middleton have the same grandmother, whose name is Edith Eliza Chandler.
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, will be delivering her first child any day now at St. Mary's Hospital's Lindo Wing. This is the same wing where the late Princess Diana delivered Princes William and Harry.
