Television personality and cook Paula Deen has definitely been getting a lot of heat these days after admitted to saying the N-word on many occasions, simply as part of her vocabulary basically. She has lost many endorsements and jobs, but maintained her restaurant due to loyal supporters who might not be aware that they are pretty much saying bigotry is okay. But now she has something else to look forward to: a biographical comic book about herself, as part of a series entitled "Female Force" (published by Bluewater Productions) Do you think the butter enthusiast considers this a small victory during her current racist controversy?
"We do not condone her use of racial insensitivities, and think that intolerance has no place in a just society," said Darren G. Davis, Bluewater's president. "But despite her recent failings, we also strongly believe she still has a powerful story to tell; one that fits the female empowerment model of our books."
The idea of using Deen for this comic book series had been a few months in the making before the recent controversy, so instead of backing away from the project Bluewater has decided to embrace it!
"Paula Deen is still an inspirational woman who has suffered much adversity in her life and overcome many obstacles," Michael Troy, writer of the Deen comic, said. "Her story is fascinating and it's easy to see why Bluewater would consider her for their Female Force line of Biography comic books that on powerful women."
Deen has joined the likes of other influential women turned into "Female Force" comic book subjects, including Angelina Jolie, Hillary Clinton, Cher and Gabrielle Giffords.
And here is the very real cover of "Female Force: Paula Deen" (seriously):
