Robin Thicke 'Blurred Lines' Album Debuts at No. 1 in UK, Highly Anticipated R&B Album Due Out in US on July 30

Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines album has debuted at No. 1 in the UK, knocking Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail from the top British spot.

The R&B crooner's sixth studio album, which features the smash hit single "Blurred Lines," is the second album of Thicke's to reach the Top 40 in Britain. His 2007 album The Evolution of Robin Thicke, which included "Lost Without U," peaked at No. 30.

"Thank you for making my new album No. 1 in the UK! This is a dream come true. I hope everyone enjoys it. Peace, love, and sexy!" Thicke told Official Charts (the UK tracking company) in a statement upon hearing about his No. 1.

Meanwhile, Magna Carta Holy Grail from the newly de-hyphenated Jay Z fell one spot to No. 2. Pet Shop Boys' Electric debuted at No. 3 in the UK, in what was originally a hotly contested run for the top spot. Rod Stewart's Time and folk rock band Passener round out the top five.

Blurred Lines was released overseas over two weeks before it's due out in the US, July 12 versus July 30. If the UK charts are any indication, it looks like Thicke is in for yet another No. 1 in the U.S. when the album is released. The single "Blurred Lines" has sat atop the Billboard Hot 100 for six straight weeks, dominating singles such as Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" and Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop."
