With nearly each day that passes, a new Backstreet Boys song from their new album 2013 In A World Like This is released. Following the music video for the title track, the Perez Hilton debut of "Madeleine" and the fan club release of "Feels Like Home," the "I Want It That Way" premiered a new song on their Twitter and Soundcloud yesterday (July 20), "Love Somebody."

Though both generally released tracks, "In A World Like This" and "Madeleine," as well as the frequent live song "Permanent Stain" are all solid adult pop tracks, "Love Somebody" falls short. While the other three songs perfectly blend BSB's boy band history with their 30-something ages, "Love Somebody" makes it sound as though someone who isn't quite hip to the groove are trying to be cool with the kids again.

A mid-tempo dance song, the curiosity of "Love Somebody" begins right around 12 seconds, when a high-pitched coo leads into the song's vocals. It's not sure which of the Backstreet Boys or their daughters this is, but it's horribly misplaced. Luckily, it goes slightly uphill from there.

With hopeful marching band-esque drums and small electronic blips, the instrumentation feels more of less 2013, which is a plus. However, for an act as rooted in nostalgia as BSB, it's almost as if they and producers Justin Trugman and Jaako Mannien didn't know how to balance an aging pop act with the modern electronic pop music scene. The music just isn't quite up to par with what has been heard from In A World Like This thus far.

Lyrically, though, there's little to take issue with in "Love Somebody." It's a sweet love song about a woman who made the caveman draw on walls and makes the seasons turn. She even lets AJ McLean watch football on TV, so you know it's real love.

Listen to "Love Somebody" below.

"Love Somebody" is off Backstreet Boys' comeback album In A World Like This. According to their Twitter, more songs from the album are expected to be released leading up to the album's July 30 release date.
