Though the Teen Choice Awards 2013 were full of big moments, from Harry Styles twerking to Rebel Wilson's controversial, muted-out joke, the annual award show went off mostly went off without a hitch on Sunday, Aug. 11.

To appeal to as many teens as humanly possible, there were four musical performances in Universal City, California, last night. One Direction, Florida Georgia Line, Demi Lovato and Paramore rocked out and gave every kind of music fan something to enjoy.

In a move that was really very obvious, British boy band One Direction opened the Teen Choice Awards with a performance of their VEVO-record shattering, No. 2 hit single "Best Song Ever." Coming down from the steps on stage, 1D walked around the stage, touching teens' hands and generally interacting with the audience.

One Direction just finished up their American Take Me Home tour and are clearly tired from life on the road. Though the group sounded a little raspier and more tired than usual, 1D still managed to belt out the poppy, upbeat hit and get the girls at home and in the building swooning.

The next musical performance to rock the TCAs was Florida Georgia Line, who took to a stage stocked full of bikini-wearing ladies and surfboards, a fitting motif for the Teen Choice Awards. With country-fried vocals and a high-energy performance that included wandering round the audience, Florida Georgia Line delivered with their summer anthem.

Oh, and what up Nelly? The rapper turned up to spit out his guesting "Cruise" verse and looked casual in red shorts, a tank top and St. Louis hat.

Demi Lovato, last year's Teen Choice Awards host, stormed the stage to perform her sew "Demi" single "Made in the USA." Unfortunately, Lovato wasn't quite on her A-game, struggling to hit notes and find the exact right pitch for the patriotic love anthem.

That's not to say "Made in the USA" lacked heart, Lovato was clearly having fun at the TCAs, smiling throughout the whole performance. Bonus: Jonas Brother Nick Jonas was playing drums during Lovato's turn on stage, because why not?

Finally, 10-time Teen Choice Award winners Paramore took to the massive Teen Choice Awards stage to belt out "Still Into You." As the "Misery Business" band is apt to do nowadays, lead singer Hayley Williams was the star of the show, wearing an aqua checkered skirt and crop top and kick-dancing her way around the stage while the rest of the band held back, simply playing their instruments in place while donning black.

Ballet dancers dressed in black tutus and donning neon hair pranced about the stage while teal and yellow balloons dropped from the rafters. Williams kicked up the energy and provided the best vocal performance of the night, proving there's a reason why the teens seem to love Paramore so much.
