One Direction stopped by "The Today Show" on Aug. 23 to perform a mini concert of three songs and talk about their upcoming concert documentary "One Direction: This Is Us." The packed, excited crowd simply could not stop screaming their excitement as the boys rocked through three of their biggest hits and talked about their lives, including Zayn Malik's recent engagement to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards.
1D proved the power of the boy band is strong, as they performed in Rockefeller Center. Kicking things off with their latest single, the incredibly catchy "Best Song Ever," the boys were all on point, giving an energy-fueled performance and making girls in the audience of all ages scream their heads off and sing along. (Fans in the crowd can easily be heard in the video.)
Besides rocking out to their latest, party-embracing single, One Direction also sang two of their biggest hits, "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Kiss You." As usual, the group sounded on point, particularly during "Kiss You," when the harmonies in the chorus sounded better than ever.
A stop on a morning talk show would be nothing if there wasn't a bit of self promotion. One Direction discussed their new movie "This Is Us" as well as Zayn Malik's engagement to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards.
On their concert documentary, 1D revealed that the film will be able to get across aspects of their lives that fans may not be able to see otherwise. "There's only so much that you can get across in a social media tweet or in a five-minute interview. We really wanted to give behind-the-scenes access and all in this documentary and what it's like for us, what it's like for our families and what these guys [the fans] have done over the years," said Niall Horan.
Meanwhile, Harry Styles hinted that fans will be able to see how the band interacts with each other and what exactly they do every day.
Of course, a new movie isn't the only big One Direction news this week. Member Zayn Malik recently got engaged to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, and he seemed excited about the news. "There's not a lot to say. We're engaged; we're really happy," Malik said with a huge smile on his face. Of course, Horan couldn't let Malik take the stage for too long and joked that he's pregnant!
