It's only six days until the US release of Ariana Grande's debut album "Yours Truly," and after giving a stellar live performance at the 2013 VMAs, the "Baby I" singer has debuted another new song via Rolling Stone. This time, "You'll Never Know" has gotten a full-length stream, and the happy little love song adds some youthful pop flavor to what shaping up to be a mature, R&B first record.
As noted in the snippet review of "Yours Truly," "You'll Never Know" is markedly lighter fare for Grande, who thus far has released powerful R&B bangers and ballads. This most recent track features a variety of poppy, bouncy electronic beats with synthesized drums.
As always, Grande perfectly blends the power of her voice with breathy lines, highlighting her full range. She can go from blasting through the chorus to quietly winding through verses and post-choruses. It's an impressive vocal run from anybody, but Grande's youthful age of 20 makes the whole package even more impressive.
Production-wise, "You'll Never Know" fits right in with singles "The Way" and "Baby I," despite this track's more traditional pop direction.
Listen to the jangly, happy "You'll Never Know" below.
"You'll Never Know" is one of several songs fans can hear in full before the release of "Yours Truly." Grande has fully debuted studio versions of "The Way," "Baby I," "Almost is Never Enough," "Right There" and "Popular Song."
"Yours Truly" will be released on Sept. 3.
