It seems as though the news about Miley Cyrus and twerking just can't stop. This time, however, it's not about the infamous VMAs performance. In fact, a new song called "Twerk" by Lil Twist leaked today (Aug. 28), and it features both Cyrus and Justin Bieber. Though the song itself is , it brings up a deeper problem with Cyrus in her "Bangerz" era and even with Bieber.

"Twerk" is Cyrus and Bieber's best attempt to recreate a trap song. The beats are fine, and Cyrus does her best impression of a tough street girl. However, the sneer in her voice during the chorus sounds more like something she had to practice in the mirror 100 times over while sticking out her tongue than anything natural. Girl, we know you're from Nashville and were raised by a country music star. You're not Nicki Minaj or Rihanna. Sorry.

Bieber doesn't help things. Unlike Cyrus, his vocals actually sound like his own self. But, the whole package is just hard to buy when Bieber is singing "swaggy" and "twerky." These kinds of things are fine when used sparingly in "Boyfriend," but here, it's a little excessive and feels like a catchphrase or gag.

Despite Lil Twist's best efforts -- and where is he even on this song? -- it's getting harder and harder to buy any sort of credibility from the immensely rich Cyrus and Bieber. They're not "ratchet" or "hood" for God's sake. So, this whole package deal is just getting a little embarrassing. But that's a whole other beast.

Many outlets have talked about the cultural appropriation of Cyrus' twerking, VMA performance and new music, and have done so much better than I ever could. There is an inherent problem with what Cyrus is doing in her "Bangerz" era, and it seems like the star just doesn't realize or just doesn't care. This song is just the latest development in whatever it is she's trying to prove.

As for "Twerk," it's whatever. Feel free to listen to a leaked version of the track below.
