It looks like Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline (Candice Accola) might have more trouble in college than they thought in season five of the CW's "The Vampire Diaries." Thanks to some twitter announcements, fans of the show now know that Australian actor Rick Cosnett is the new series villain. Portraying Dr. Wes Maxfield, the lovely stars of the show might have to worry about more than bad grades from their new biology teacher.

Also, don't get too worried about Elena and Caroline leaving their boyfriends for the hunky teacher because the CW announced that this new character becomes "quick enemies" with the girls. They also suspect he has a "dark and dangerous secret," but that should be expected for this show.

One character that Elena and Caroline will probably be missing in the fight against Maxfield is the recently deceased Bonnie. The actress who plays her, Kat Graham, recently spoke about Bonnie's new "life" as a ghost in the next season.

"She loves her friends and family and she can't connect to them, and it creates an intimacy relying on one person as your connection to the one thing that matters the most to you," Graham said. "It's a really beautiful thing to see. She only has him (Jeremy) at this point. That's something new for the fans. They'll be able to see that side that hasn't been explored yet."

"When you have to be alone because you don't have a choice, it can affect your subconscious and it's going to be very interesting to see if that at all affects the character," she continued. "And if she even comes back from the dead, how she will be when she returns."
