Comedian Russell Brand was kicked out of the 2013 GQ Men of the Year awards ceremony this week after one of his political jokes went a bit too far for the fashion magazine. One of Brand's punch lines linked the fashion world to the Nazis. This is the first controversial incident for Brand since his "Morning Joe" altercation earlier this year.
"Glad to grace the stage where Boris Johnson had just made light of the use of chemical weapons in Syria. Meaning that GQ could now stand for Genocide quips," Brand joked. "I mention that only to make this next comment a bit lighter because if any of you know a little about history, and fashion, you know it was Hugo Boss who made uniforms for the Nazis. But they looked (expletive) fantastic, let's face it, while they were killing people on the basis of their religion and sexuality."
Shortly after this joke, GQ's editor, Dylan Jones, kicked Brand out of the party.
Here is a recent tweet from Brand, explaining his side of the story:
GQ editor: "What you did was very offensive to Hugo Boss." Me:" What Hugo Boss did was very offensive to the Jews." #GQAwards #nazitailor

Do you think kicking out the comedian was the right decision? Are you offended by the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star's joke?
This is not the first time Russell's political humor got him in trouble at an awards show. While hosting the MTV Movie Awards in 2012, his opening monologue included the following joke:
"Obviously, I don't vote as I believe democracy is a pointless spectacle where we choose between two indistinguishable political parties, neither of whom represent the people but the interest of powerful business elites that run the world."
