The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Michigan Wolverines will continue one of college football's most passionate and storied rivalries today. Notre Dame will head to Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, MI for NCAA football's second week in the 2013 season. The stakes will be high for the 14th ranked Fighting Irish and 17th ranked Wolverines. The game has a little added fuel to the fire after Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said he thought Michigan wasn't one of Notre Dame's traditional rivals, according to ESPN. The Saturday night game will be on TV on ESPN and the online live stream will be available on WATCHESPN. Game time starts at 8pm ET with the Vegas odds giving the Fighting Irish four points according to SB Nation.
As ESPN notes, this could be the last matchup between Notre Dame and Michigan for a while, which will likely make the Ann Arbor crowd even more riled up. On the field both teams are fairly evenly matched up with this game going either way. Notre Dame is the favorite to some, but Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Reese's performance could decide the game. I wouldn't be surprised if Reese comes back down to earth this week and throws a costly interception or two.
Michigan is hurting after losing backup running back Drake Johnson to a torn ACL in week one. I'm most worried about Wolverines quarterback Devin Gardner. He can run the ball, but the Fighting Irish defense may force him to prove he can throw the ball, which could spell trouble. I see Notre Dame pulling out the victory in a close contest.
