It's been a little while since the Jonas Brothers have divulged any news on their new album "V." After debuting several songs live and releasing a string of lyrics online, it seems as though news about their comeback record has all but stalled.
That doesn't mean it isn't coming out -- "V" is still due sometime this fall -- and it seems as though the Jonas Brothers are back on the media circuit. The "First Time" band gave an interview with Idolator today (Sept. 12), during which they explained the inspiration behind some of the record's more powerful songs and the usefulness of social media in marketing.
Though best known as a pop band, the Jonas Brothers insist that they enjoy listening to all kinds of music and have pulled that in to the "V" writing process. "With this record, we pulled pieces from all our inspirations," said Joe Jonas. "But at the same time, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to make it sound different that anything we'd done before."
This resulted in the harder rock song "What Do I Mean To You," the atmospherically elegant "Neon" and the raucous first single "Pom Poms." Though all distinctly Jonas in their way, each song adds a different musical element to the band's expansive discography.
As fans could gather from the recent announcements of Kevin's baby's sex (it's a girl!) and the October tour, the Jonas Brothers told Idolator that their mobile app is a huge part of their promotion for "V" and a way for them to better connect with fans.
"We have things that we can feed to the world that we can just put out on a news blurb or post on Twitter or put on Instagram, and you're just giving that away. Access to the artist is extremely important," said Joe. "But, to have one place that people go to as a destination for all things Jonas Brothers -- that's a win for us because it's out vision, and it's important to know that the app can do that."
With the way things are going, it seems as though fans will be able to expect more updates about "V" to come out via the app.
Until then, here's what else we know about "V" so far.
