Miley Cyrus reached 14 million followers on Twitter earlier this week, and as the "Bangerz" singer is apt to do, she marked the milestone by rewarding her fans by releasing the director's cut of her controversial new music video "Wrecking Ball."

Directed by celebrity photography Terry Richardson, the new version of the music video hones in on Cyrus' face. In a single take for the entire duration of the song, Cyrus sings directly into the camera with tears streaming down her face. It marks a close resemblance to Sinead O'Connor's 1990 landmark music video for "Nothing Compares 2 U."

The footage was used in the original "Wrecking Ball" music video, interspersed with shots of Cyrus swinging naked on construction equipment and licking a sledgehammer, among other activities.

Like O'Connor before her, the director's cut of "Wrecking Ball" highlights the emotion of the heartbreaking song. With the recent news of Cyrus' split from fiancé Liam Hemsworth, the track hits a new level of emotion.

And compare it to the controversial original cut, released Sept. 9.

"Wrecking Ball" is the second single from "Bangerz," preceded by "We Can't Stop." It's the most successful single of Cyrus' career and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 last week.

"Bangerz" is due out Oct. 8.

This isn't the first time Cyrus has celebrated a Twitter follower count with new information for fans. In August, Cyrus celebrated 13 million "tweeps" with the announcement of her album title, "Bangerz."
