Alternative rock band Modest Mouse are in the process of preparing a new record, and the "Float On" group have got one heavenly guest on the album: Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.
In an interview with Spotify (via Interstate-8) to promote the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's final studio album "In Utero," Novoselic revealed that he makes a guest appearance on a track for the upcoming Modest Mouse album. "I did a song with Modest Mouse earlier this year for their new record. It's pretty edgy. I've got my big Gibson bass and a Rat distortion pedal busting out this bass riff," he said.
This isn't the first time that Modest Mouse has worked with a member of a legendary rock group. The Smiths' guitarist Johnny Marr joined the band for a period of time in 2006. Marr played on the band's 2007 album "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" and toured with them for some time after. Marr left Modest Mouse in 2009.
Little else is known about the upcoming Modest Mouse album, except that it is in the works. It will be the band's first full-length effort since 2007's "We Were Dead." In 2009, Modest Mouse released the "No One's First and You're Next" EP.
Meanwhile, when Novoselic isn't jamming with Modest Mouse, he spends his time as a political activist in Washington State. Musically, he recently teamed up with the surviving members of Nirvana and Paul McCartney for the "Sirvana" track "Cut Me Some Slack."
