If you've ever wanted the anger of heavy metal mixed with the rich, folk tones of The Avett Brothers, boy are you in luck! That's what Jimmy Fallon had to say during his "Late Night" talk show Sept. 30, when the folk rock quartet did a faux infomercial viral video entitled "The Avett Brothers Sing Heavy Metal."
The hilarious sketch involved a blend of dark metal lyrics with the banjo-infused, twangy music of The Avett Brothers. Not surprisingly? The blend works incredibly well, both on a musical level and a humor level.
Watch The Avett Brothers do folk renditions of Iron Maiden's "Run To The Hills," Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" and Metallica's "One" below.
Covering heavy metal and making a viral video wasn't the only thing The Avett Brothers did on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," the group also performed their new single "Vanity" with Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell.
Check out that video below:
"Vanity" continues to build on the rock 'n' roll influenced sound that The Avett Brothers established on their last album, "The Carpenter."
"Vanity" is a single from The Avett Brother's upcoming eighth studio album, "Magpie and the Dandelion," which will hit stores on Oct. 15.
