Lady Gaga's second "Artpop" single, "Aura" has surfaced online. Yesterday (Oct. 8), the jumpy, EDM-infused dance track surfaced on the Internet after being teased in the trailer for the upcoming Robert Rodriguez film "Machete Kills" (in which Gaga makes her acting debut).
"Aura" first appeared in a rough demo in early August, ahead of even the release of "Applause." Then, fans heard the track during Gaga's iTunes Festival performance in London. The distorted, muffled version that leaked over the summer set a bizarre stage for "Artpop," but the latest incarnation of the track is very much polished and cleaned up, making it seem as though this is the finished product. The finished version of the song was then heard in part in the "Machete Kills" trailer released last week.
Don't be mistaken, "Aura" is still loud and bizarre; it has the signature Gaga flavor but is much less of a traditional pop song than "Applause." The track begins with the funky Spanish-influenced guitar and the bizarre speak-singing. Gaga speaks of murder in winding, creepy vocals that encompass the listener.
After a descending scale or two and haunting laughs from the Mother Monster, "Aura" really begins to flow with a highly EDM-influenced beat. Heavy drumbeats and electronic sounds overwhelm the track as the vocal effects from Gaga continue to be fuzzy.
In the song's chorus, however, Gaga's simple, strong voice powers through in a memorable sing-song melody. It's classic Gaga at this point in the track, and the chorus is the track's highpoint.

"Aura" is likely the second single from Lady Gaga's upcoming third studio album "Artpop," and the track is likely to receive an official debut sometime soon. "Artpop" will be released Nov. 11. "Machete Kills," the film which features "Aura" will hit theatres on Friday (Oct. 11).
