Another day, another casting rumor about Star Wars: Episode VII denied by an established actor. This time Sir Ben Kingsley has come out saying that he has not auditioned for a role in J.J. Abrams' 2015 blockbuster.
When asked about his name tied into audition and casting rumors, Kingsley said: "Oh what a shame that I wasn't awake during the audition."
He continued his joking answer, saying: "It's passed me by entirely - I have no recollection of it whatsoever! I do apologize to the producers and directors, but I'm afraid that I have no recall of this."
So don't expect this lighthearted, talented actor to show up on the big screen in this 2015 Star Wars film. Are you bummed to hear that Kingsley hasn't auditioned for the movie?
Meanwhile, a new report came in this week stating that we could possibly be hearing some official casting news from Disney and Lucasfilm for Episode VII. This news comes from Jedi Master and explains how the film's production has been quiet and secretive in order to avoid leaked information and spoilers.
A source explained: "My sources tell me that Lucasfilm is going silent for a period. It could be one of two things: they are clamping down on leaks or, as I was previously told, announcements would start later in October and be drip-fed in a controlled manner for the remainder of the year. All that was said is there's a 'need to draw a line in the sand for a period,' which makes me think the latter."
This source also explained the unique auditioning process put into place in order to avoid any leaks.
"My casting source has told me that beyond the planned casting calls and meets there has been little information coming out on casting," the source said. "No one is getting rejected, they just get silence. There are two possibilities for this: 1) They know who they want and have no fear in getting them. Can you turn down Star Wars? So, they will not announce anything until the last minute as they will make 'take it or leave it' offers. How to avoid leaks? Don't officially cast actors until you absolutely need to, a move that also allow actors to deny that they are involved by truthfully stating that they have 'not signed anything'. 2) If they reject actors there is the fear that they will talk possibly about their auditions, the type of character, age ranges, etc."
Get ready because we might finally be getting a lot of information about the next chapter in the Star Wars franchise soon!
