Death Cab For Cutie are in the studio recording their eighth studio album. Yesterday (Oct. 8), on the band's official Instagram account, a simple photograph announced the new project.
"Paintbrushes. #inthestudio #deathcab," the simple announcement said alongside a picture of seven assorted guitars. According to Rolling Stone, the "Soul Meets Body" band is holed up in a Seattle studio, with member Chris Walla producing the record.
Little else is known about the Death Cab For Cutie Record or the group's recording process.
The album will be the follow up to 2011's "Codes and Keys," which featured the single "You Are A Tourist."
Recording the album comes off a busy year for Death Cab and its frontman, Ben Gibbard. Gibbard toured the country to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of his side project, The Postal Service and its album "Give Up."
Meanwhile, Death Cab also announced that they would release a reissue of their breakthrough album "Transatlanticism," due out Oct. 29. The reissue will include a vinyl pressing of the album as well as download codes for previously unheard demos.
