Miley Cyrus has smashed the competition in the UK. Her new album "Bangerz" and its second single "Wrecking Ball" have both landed at No. 1 on the album sales chart and singles chart overseas, respectively.
This marks the first time that an artist has topped both charts during the same week in the UK in 2013, according to Reuters. This was the first week for both songs on the UK album charts. Though released to digital retailers in America last month, "Wrecking Ball" just made its British debut on Monday (Oct. 7) alongside "Bangerz."
The strong debut of "Bangerz" knocked last week's British sales winners, HAIM, out of the top spot. The indie pop trio's debut album, "Days Are Gone" fell to No. 5 in the UK, which is still better than their No. 7 debut on the Billboard 200 in their home country last week.
Cyrus' chart topping for "Wrecking Ball" in the UK follows her two week run at No. 1 in the US. "Wrecking Ball" surpassed "Roar" as the top song in the country in September following the release of the controversial Terry Richardson directed music video. "Wrecking Ball" has since been topped by New Zealander Lorde's alternative crossover hit "Royals."
Meanwhile, "Bangerz" is not set just to debut at No. 1 abroad. The record is aiming for the top spot on the Billboard 200 this week, as well. According to Billboard, Cyrus is expected to sell roughly 250,000 copies in its first week, easily landing her the top spot in America for this week.
The 250K units of "Bangerz" will mark a huge sales week for Cyrus, who has been having some of the biggest successes of her career this fall. Her last record, "Can't Be Tamed" (2010) sold a little over 100,000 copies in its first week three years ago.
