X-Men Days of Future Past Footage: Evan Peters Describes Shooting Quicksilver Scenes in Slow Motion

Evan Peters has finished his work as Quicksilver in the upcoming superhero time travel film X-Men: Days of Future Past and the actor talked about the process of shooting the film in super slow motion in recent interview.

In an interview with io9, Peters revealed that the camera, which shot at an incredible 3600 frames per second, hurt his eyes:

"Bright. It was incredibly bright. A lot of the crew and Bryan, himself, got to wear sunglasses. And the actors had to keep their eyes open for a long, long time, with that bright light just blaring at you. It's like the sun. It's brighter than the sun. It's right there in your eyes. But the end result is so worth it. You just power through it."

It does kind of hurt. I don't know how safe that is? Keeping your eyes open for more than 20 seconds in that light. But yeah it does hurt. It's really difficult to keep your eyes open.

The dedication shown by Peters, Bryan Singer and the rest of the crew really speaks to how they wanted to portray the Quicksilver character. A rate of 3600 frames per second is astronomical, so one can only imagine what the finished product will look like once it gets through editing.

Peters also noted that the super slow motion is able to capture the essence of the Quicksilver character, that everyone and everything is incredibly slow to him"

"Yes! I read one of the comics where he says that it's like waiting at an ATM, when the people in front of you don't know how to use it. That's how his whole life is, everybody is so slow to him. And he has the ability to go so fast, he's just waiting for everybody to catch up. It's pretty cool, that character trait."

On a more story-related note, Peters said that his character would have his trademark silver hair. He also said he worked with Michael Fassbender (Young Magneto), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) and James McAvoy (Young Professor Xavier) but would not divulge any more information about the plot.
