Katy Perry is the latest CoverGirl! The "Prism" singer announced her new partnership with the makeup company today (Oct. 16) on her official Facebook page and Twitter.
"BEAUTIFUL news to share w/you all. Today is my 1st day as a COVERGIRL! See what happens when you let the light in," she wrote, referring to both the makeup brand and her upcoming album "Prism."
According to People, Perry will be the spokeswoman for a series of ads in Spring 2014.
Perry and Covergirl teased the partnership with a photo of Perry, where the pop star looks simple and subdued. Plump deep pink lips stand out against minimal looking makeup and a light rosy cheek. Perry, reflecting the look of her latest album cover, is wearing her hair tousled and a dusty rose tank top, alongside studded jewelry and bright blue nails.
"In addition to music, I've always considered makeup to be a powerful creative avenue for self-expression. I'm honored to partner with CoverGirl and share more colors and textures of my approach to beauty to inspire my audience," Perry said in a statement.
Perry is not the first young female musician to be a CoverGirl. She joins the likes of P!nk and Janelle Monae, who have both signed on with the brand in recent years.
Additionally, this is not the first time Perry has teamed up with a cosmetics company. Following the release of "Teenage Dream," she teamed up with OPI Nail Lacquer for a line of five nail polishes, including the first black shatter polish in the States.
