Ho, ho, ho! Christmastime is here! Or, at least some new Christmas music is. Today (Oct. 18), Kelly Clarkson released the audio for her first holiday single, "Underneath the Tree," from her upcoming Christmas album "Wrapped in Red."
The jingly, jangly holiday anthem falls in the category of other recent pop divas gone Christmas (like Mariah Carey and Britney Spears) in blending holiday themes with wanting a love to spend the year with. "Presents, what a beautiful sight / Don't mean a thing if you're not holding me tight / You're all that I need / Underneath the tree," she blasts in the track's opening moments.
Classical pop Christmas instrumentation decorates the track, sleigh bells, poppy piano and flared drumming are heavily featured in the spectacularly produced track.
As usual, Clarkson kills the vocal, keeping things lighthearted and poppy all while maintaining power in the choruses, allowing for maximum sing-along potential.

"Underneath the Tree" is the first Christmas single from American Idol Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson. The track is from the album "Wrapped in Red," due out Oct. 25.
The holiday album is a mix of old and new songs, including Christmas classics like "Blue Christmas" and "Baby, It's Cold Outside." In addition to the new sounds heard on "Underneath the Tree," Clarkson also released the audio of her stripped-down, jazzy "White Christmas" cover earlier this week. That song comes with a pre-order of "Wrapped in Red."
