Last night, late night got a little taste of the pop-punk. Avril Lavigne took to Conan to perform the latest single from her fifth studio album Avril Lavigne, "Let Me Go."
The dark ballad, which was co-written by her husband and Nickleback frontman Chad Kroeger, was performed sans her hubby, as Lavigne took on both verses and a backing band member tackled the chorus' harmonies.
Looking stunning and shockingly mature in a conservative black dress, with her hair brushed to one side, Lavigne knocked the track out of the park, sometimes sounding like fellow Canadian pop diva Celine Dion. Lavigne's performance was simple, which is fitting for the slow song. Standing simply behind a microphone, she belted out the song like she really has something to day.
Sans Kroeger, the piano-driven power ballad still works, and the songwriter's fingerprints are still evident.

"Let Me Go" is the this single from Avril Lavigne. Preceded by the poppy "Here's To Never Growing Up" and "Rock and Roll," "Let Me Go" experienced minor success, debuting (and peaking) at No. 78 on the Billboard Hot 100, besting the position of "Rock and Roll" but failing to live up to "Never Growing Up," which topped the charts at No. 20.
