The end of 2013 is coming ever closer, and that means that Barbara Walters is preparing her "Most Fascinating People of the Year" list. Today (Dec. 2), the TV journalist released nine of the 10 most fascinating people from the past 365 days, and the group includes quite a few celebrities.
According to ABC, Miley Cyrus, Hunger Games: Catching Fire actress Jennifer Lawrence, the cast of Duck Dynasty and Kanye West and Kim Kardashian (known as KimYe) are among the nine people announced as they most interesting.
They join the likes of Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts, NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, Pope Francis, long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad and the infant Prince George.
It's been a big year for each of the nine people chosen thus far. Miley Cyrus, of course, has been making headlines consistently all year with her controversial music videos and performances to support her comeback album Bangerz. Jennifer Lawrence kicked the whole year off with an Oscar and then went on to star in the biggest movie of the holiday season.
Meanwhile, the Robertson family from Duck Dynasty have been propelled to unparalleled levels of fame, with countless merchandise at Walmart and a top-selling Christmas album.
And what would 2013 be without the media circus that is KimYe? The celebrity couple have consistently made headlines this year with their baby daughter North, huge engagement and West's proclamations of love and bizarre interviews.
Of course, the number one most fascinating person of the year won't be revealed until ABC airs the Walters special on Dec. 18 at 9:30 p.m. EST.
