AMC is one of the most entertaining television networks when it comes to scripted shows these days. That said, it just said farewell to its most successful series, Breaking Bad, thus opening up the floodgates, so to say, for new programming. One of these new 2014 offerings comes in the form of the Jamie Bell-starring, Revolutionary War spy drama Turn.

Set during the Revolutionary War, AMC boasts that Turn tells the story of America's first spy ring. Considering there wasn't even an America at this time, the story holds a certain historical intrigue to it. We'll get to see a show about the war that led to the development of the country we now live in as well as the aspect of spies and how that came about in a more primitive time.

Here is a synopsis of the series:

"Turn" is a spy thriller set during the American Revolutionary War. Based on remarkable new research featured in the book "Washington's Spies," by Alexander Rose, it tells the untold story of America's first spies. "Turn" follows Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell), a farmer living behind enemy lines in British-occupied Long Island, who bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring, an unlikely team of secret agents who would help turn the tide of the war in favor of the Rebels. Their daring efforts also revolutionized the art of espionage, giving birth to modern tradecraft as we know it today, along with all of the moral complexity that entails.
